UPDATE: Thanks for all the interesting and thoughtful questions, Reddit! I hope we had the chance to help you understand what the Space Force is and how to get involved. I'm sorry we couldn’t get to all of them. Thanks for your support, hope to see you in the future!
Hi Reddit! I’m Lieutenant Colonel Sheena Mira. For the past 16 years, I’ve served in the U.S. military—first in the U.S. Air Force and now in the U.S. Space Force. I’m a Space Operations Officer and have done everything from conduct launch operations at Cape Canaveral to plan and prepare forces for our increasing reliance on space.
I currently work at the Pentagon for Space Force Requirements. In my personal life, I love to surf, snowboard, mountain bike and do yoga, but my favorite thing of all is spending time with my 1.5 year old and my husband.
I’ll be joined by Sergeant Allison Oldak. She’s also a member of the Space Force and is an expert in satellite communications systems. She’s currently stationed in Hawaii, but her role has taken her all over the world, including Japan and Guam. Together we’re here to answer all your questions about the U.S. Space Force and what it’s like to be a part of its mission.
We’ll be answering questions from 11AM ET on May 9th, 2023, Ask us Anything!
What’s the purpose of spaceforce? NSA what’s left of NASA CIA as well as Navy an Air Force have their own satellites an specific teams. Why should we need space force? No disrespect honest question.
