It has been a rough year for you. Not only did your girlfriend break up with you exactly one year ago on your birthday but subsequently you’ve lost so much more. The apartment and dog you shared both went to her. One could argue that you’re too kind-hearted but for you it just made sense. Your ex-girlfriend’s job allowed her to spent more time with your dog than yours did. Also, you didn’t want to burden your dog by adapting to a new environment. What was left were memories of a time with some ups but mostly downs. In retrospect, it’s hard to even understand why you two were together but this a story for another time.

Since you don’t spend that much time at home you settled for a cheap one bedroom apartment near your firm. Less commuting meant more free time in this case. To get to the old apartment it took ninety minutes, so three hours lost per day. Now you’re at your firm in under ten minutes. This, however, was the last blessing of the year as you got passed over for a promotion. The girl you were dating for a few weeks turned out to be a cheater. From that point on you were only focused on your work to ensure the next promotion would be yours.

The worst part? Your arch-nemesis got the job and nobody knew why. At least, those who didn’t look closely didn’t. But let’s be real for a second here. A cum-glazed face isn’t the most normal thing when coming out of your boss’ office, right?

Lucky for you, your friends were determined to make today the most special day ever. One year of misery would take a turning point this evening. They were sure of it. And their solution? Dreamland. A small shop downtown which only opens if you have made an appointment beforehand. But not anyone can make an appointment. There is no phone number you can call. There is no website, nothing which would even suggest this shop even does anything except for looking old. On closer inspection, however, one could feel a compelling aura around it. One day your friends were walking by it and tried to peak into the windows which appeared to just get darker and darker the longer they looked. In the end, they were convinced that a voice whispered to them. A voice asking for someone in their lives which could use a dream coming true.

Within the hour they were writing a letter explaining your situation. When they put the pen down and tried to put the letter into an envelope, the women started to scream. The ink wasn’t even completely dry when it started to vanish and new letters appeared out of thin air.

“It is heart-warming how much you care for your friend. Please, guide her towards Dreamland on her next birthday. Make her step into the shop but do not expect to be entering as well. The door will close just behind her and the only thing you can be sure of after that, is that your friend will experience something magical.

Will you bring her to the shop? Yes or No? Please write your answer on this piece of paper.”

Hastily, one of the women grabbed a pen and wrote “Yes!. Once more, the paper cleared and now was as white as snow.

On your birthday your friends picked you up after work and told you all about the place you were about to visit. So… nothing as they knew nothing. All they did was tease and talk about a magical place where dreams would come true. They filled the void of knowledge with wide speculation of finding your soulmate, your perfect girlfriend. Visiting magical and almost unreal places. Then the car stopped and one of your friends opened your car door.

“Please, go in. We’ll join you in a second. We just need to grab something from the car,” she smiled.

You do as you’re told even though it seems kind of strange. This place doesn’t look like anything special. With each step however it feels like a presence is drawing you closer and closer. Your hand reaches for the door and when it opens it feels like you’re being sucked into the room. A dark room. The moment the door closes, however, the room turns bright and you feel like everything is going to be okay, nothing can hurt or harm you now.

“Welcome to Dreamland,” a voice says. A woman with white hair, light blue eyes, and a completely white dress that covers her entire body from neck to toes appears out of thin air. It appears as if she’s floating just a few inches above the ground but with the dress, it’s hard to tell. Her movements are fluid like the flow of a peaceful river. This sight would’ve creeped you out and made you scream if it weren’t for this feeling of serenity. The closer the woman got to you the stronger the feeling.

Without you even noticing she took your hand and begins to take you upstairs. “I’m sure by now you have many questions but let me just tell you the most important things about this place. Whatever happens when you enter Dreamland can stay there and you will fill your mind with memories. However, at any point in time where you think that you want some part of it to become real, you’ll tell me as I can make it so. You may spend as much time in it as you want but remember that in the real world only one minute will go by. You will find a world that will change to your every desire. And now… I you go!”

A door flew open and once again it feels like a darkness is sucking you in. The door closes and the darkness fades into…

I’m aware that this prompt is written quite open. However, I already have a few ideas how we can continue. Obviously, we can either play out the entire Dreamland part or just skip over the major points of it after which your character will return to the real world with whatever you have in mind.

Overall, this prompt is meant as a thank you to the amazing community. I want to play a character of your choosing in a world of your choosing. My other prompts often take away this flexibility.

Now, before we can start please tell me three things:
