Hi there beautiful person,
One bright spot in the awful past year has definitely been my time in GWA, first as a listener and then a brief spell as a contributor. But 3 months and 30 scripts later, I have no idea if Iāve made any meaningful difference here, though. I usually only get a smattering of feedback or sometimes none at all, except from a couple of wonderful, gentle souls who messaged me directly.
So I'm sitting here, listening to Christmas songs still, enjoying a single malt and thinking about all the random stuff Iāve learnt (or reminded of). These are my experiences and would probably be different for you:
- Halloween is bigger than Christmas haha. Just never occurred to me.
- Having background music is just WOW! Iāve found it totally enhances immersion rather than break it. I mean, just like a scene in a movie, nobody is gonna think āhey, whereās the music coming from?ā. It simply creates the right mood, since almost all audios here have love scenes and sexy scenes. May not work every time, so try it and see. Here's a sample.
- Yes, there are truly wonderful people here; there are the clearly popular ones, but there are also many other less noticed ones - with such hot, sexy audios, holy shit! Thatās why I always make sure to also sort by new. Look hard enough and youāll find these precious diamonds in the rough.
- As a writer itās odd to say this, but I mostly LOVE your unscripted or ramblefap audios and listening to where your mind takes you. :) Please do more of those!
- Thereās not enough time to appreciate everyone who deserves it. :(
- Itās hard to not care about upvotes and comments, letās be real. This is a system designed specifically to exploit the very human need for validation and trying to brainwash yourself into thinking ānope, it doesnāt matterā only works for a while. BUT what everyone has said before is true - that you should create content because you enjoy doing it and donāt compare yourself to others.
- And if I may offer an additional perspective to performers who feel under appreciated: I was a lurker long before I became active here. I enjoyed all your audios without commenting or voting. Trust me, for every one vote you get, there are possibly dozen other lazy bastards like me who enjoyed your work but remain silent.
- No matter how positive or supportive you try to be, there is always one person who takes your words or audio out of context or they're just having a bad day and takes offence at you. Just have to get used to it.
- Itās hard to make meaningful connections while still keeping a sense of anonymity. I wish I could.
- The virtual world is no substitute for real happiness. Much as I find joy in writing stories, posting them and seeing fills, and I always feel happy for performers when they do well after so sweetly giving their time and energy, itās all so fleeting and I keep chasing after the next high.
So, for 2021, I'll likely:
- Write less so I'll have more time to listen, read and support all of your wonderful content. And also, you know, have time for that thing called real life.
- Update and cheekily repost my older, unfilled scripts.
- Compromise less on scripts if I ever write new ones. I was so impatient to get fills, I made my scripts too open and flexible. So from here on, I'll write 2 kinds of scripts - short and sweet ones ideal for anyone to perform, and more complex stuff, requiring nuanced acting, with SFX or music, which I enjoy. May not get fills, but I'm more patient now and don't mind waiting for the right performer to come along.
- Try to collaborate more and write for specific performers - I find this route to be the most creatively fulfilling since I know your vocal and acting range and can write things that sound so good when you say it. :) If you think our particular styles sync and would like to collaborate, just DM me.
Wishing you a wonderful new year!
