Let's Have a Discussion [Update]

Post Body

Hi everyone! I don't usually make posts like this (mainly because I don't know how many will see it, but there's no other place to put it) but I need to discuss some things with you all.

As you've probably noticed, I haven't posted a new audio in a while (and I also haven't spun for the winner of my 1k follower custom. I promise, it's coming!), and I'd like to offer some reasoning as to why, and then open up the floor for my followers to contribute to the discussion.

First and foremost:

I want everyone who chooses to follow me and listen to my content to feel safe, secure, and valued. I want you to be able to insert yourself into these scenarios without issue and feel included and seen. I really want you to know I will continue to be conscious of listener descriptions moving forward. You deserve it.

However...

I've been noticing a lot of productive discussions happening on the GWA side of Twitter, led by BIPOC performers/listeners. Underrepresented groups are feeling left out and not cared for. Nonbinary people and women are standing up and speaking their truth. I want you to know, I am listening. I am also seeing some of you being attacked for speaking up. This is NOT okay, I want to make it VERY clear that GWA was built on the back of BIPOC and women & nonbinary listeners. They deserve to be heard and respected. If there are any listeners of mine who don't support and respect BIPOC listeners/performers, they are not welcome in my space. This should not be controversial, and I stand by this statement, and will show through my actions how much I mean it. I SUPPORT BIPOC PERFORMERS/LISTENERS.

That being said, I would like to ask all of my followers a couple questions. I welcome and value responses from everyone, but I would like to ask any BIPOC performers and listeners who happen across this post to speak freely in the comments. Your voice and words are valued here.

  1. On the content side of things: If you've ever felt excluded by one of my audios, please let me know which one and where it happened so I can avoid using terms/scenarios like that in the future. I understand some people may be in to different things, so I'm not asking if you didn't like a certain kink or tag, I'm asking if any of the LANGUAGE I used made you feel discriminated against on the base of race, body type, etc. Inclusivity is something I stand by and strive for, and I want to let you know that I by no means want you to do the emotional labor of educatiing me. I continually check in on my own bias and privilege, I do my own research and education, but I also recognize I need to be held accountable just like everyone else and I want you to know this is a safe space to hold me to the standards I want to set out for myself.

  2. If there is anything you want me to do more of in the future, let me know. I try to keep my audios varied, but I've already started to see a pattern on which ones do well. But I wanna hear what you all want, so that I can better serve you as an audience.

  3. This one is specifically for BIPOC performers and listeners: If there is one thing I want to get across, it's that I want you to feel included and valued. Not just in my audios, but in this community. And right now, I see that you're not. So I want to put forth this question for all of you: What can I do to further support you? I want to make sure that, at least in my space, that you are heard, valued, and supported. And along with the self-education, I want to directly check in. Because I want to try to help drive the community as a whole forward. Because without you, we wouldn't be where we are. So thank you for all you've done and do for the community.

Lastly, I'm going to include a link to an anonymous google form so that anyone who doesn't feel comfortable leaving a public comment can still contribute to the discussion. Feel free to use it to express your thoughts on everything I've asked and also for anything you'd like to say regarding the matter at large.

I hope this leads to a better understanding of my audience as a creator, and I also hope that I can be a positive force in a negative space. We need to change. We need to realize that things aren't okay right now, and we need to work to fix them.

We need to listen.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Him
