I know I know, everyone is struggling and everyone is talking about it , but I want to give my point of view of being a middle class single dad. To start since my divorce I've lost 40lbs or more. Everyone has accused me of being on drugs. But that is quite the contrary, I've been clean for over 10 years now and am very proud of that . I make 47k a year and I do side work when I can. Now 4-5 years ago that was good money, but now it's nothing. I bring home 2800 a month after taxes and insurance. My mortgage is 1400 . Theres weeks that I eat ramen 3 nights a week to make sure my son has a good meal. Theres times when I have to syphon gas from the neighbors to get to work for the rest of the, to make sure my son has clothes and shoes that fit. I'm not perfect I'm anyway but I will do anything to make sure my son has a better life than what I did, ever if that means me getting closer and closer to my grave . Because of the divorce I have to sell my house in 4 months, and I don't have anywhere else to go. I can't afford anything higher than what I'm paying, and I can't find any where that cheap. But I make too much for any type of help. So yes the middle class is struggling to stay alive,
