Hi everyone! I was recently invited to be on a podcast ^{not podcast} hosted by the lovely u/Wkdfaerie, featuring fellow writers u/livejoker and u/ChrisHailey.

In it, I was graciously allowed airtime to bring up an incident that happened to me two years ago involving one of my scripts being stolen.

tl;dr - At this time I am not taking any action or mentioning names. I am posting this for my own reference of order of events as a way to source my story.

Chronologically:

• Feb 16, 2016 - Rite of Passage (Inuyasha fanfiction)
  • This was posted to fanfiction.net under the name "watermarkit" (account name changed to Nyaanneko in response to pastebin purge in Dec 2020)
  • Key story points from Chapters 1-5:
    • Sesshomaru, a dog demon and prince, is gifted Kagome, a human miko/priestess, to have sex with for his centennial birthday.
    • He stumbles into his room, drunk and angry, and tries to drag her out of the room, see the guards in the hall, and brings her back inside
    • She has no living family
    • He admits to also being a virgin
    • His mother the Queen is of royal blood, and with the birth of him, his father was able to gain the title of King
    • They must have sex to prove he has accepted the gift, otherwise he would be reprimanded in front of the court.
    • "I give you my word, I will do right by you." he vowed without thinking.
    • The King check on them in the morning, and confirms that they have had sex. Sesshomaru is angry
• Mar 8, 2019 [Script Offer][M4F] I won't let you take her [Fantasy][Alternate Universe][Mutual][Captives to Lovers][First time][Please, my Lady. I'm kneeling before you][DO NOT COME IN][Impreg][Creampie]
  • BTS script writing podcast here [51:06]
  • Key story points:
    • M voice is a Prince, and is gifted F listener for his birthday
    • M stumbles into his room, drunk and angry, and tries to drag her out of the room, see the Captain in the hall, and brings her back inside
    • F is the Blacksmith's daughter but no longer has any living relatives
    • M admits to also being a virgin
    • M thinks the custom is barbaric (having to prove fertility in order to gain the crown). If they do not conceive in three months, they will both be executed.
    • Captain knocks on the door to see if they've finished having sex, and barges in, angering the Prince.
    • "Where are you taking her? *stern voice/yelling?* Stop! As your Prince, I command you to stop! *angry* Confirm? Confirm what? Clearly you can see my seed dripping out of her. Isn't that proof enough?"
    • M insists that she stay with him, and he comforts F and promises her a good life for her and their child, who will be free from the horrible life of royalty because she has no royal blood (ie the child will not take the throne. This child is only to prove the Prince's fertility)
• March 21, 2020 - the date the "similar" script is posted as part 1 of 9
  • Part 1 has plot and character similarities to my "I won't let you have her" script
  • I initially found this through a script fill posted on March 30, 2020- the voice had voiced all nine parts.
  • Part 1 is clearly different in writing style and plot/story development style with the following parts.

• Jun 8, 2020 - I message the writer:

So originally I wasn't going to message you because I'm terrified of confrontation, but I noticed your script from two months ago here: (their script offer link)

I don't know if this was intentional or not, and I'm really not trying to start anything. GWA has been a really wonderful community for me, and I don't want to ruin that experience for you. I guess I'm just wondering the source of your initial idea for Part 1 of (their title).

Regardless, thank you for motivating me to pick up writing again. I'd forgotten how much I missed it. I've written my own part 2 which takes the plot in a different direction here:

Hi, I honestly never saw your script or heard the fills. There was something I heard 4 to 5 years ago that I remember liking the set-up on and that was about it. It could have been an audio book as I listen to a lot of audio books or it could have been elsewhere. It was from before I was on reddit, so I really can't say.

...Long story short, sharing the source of my work is my way of taking ownership of what happened, and finally speaking up about it.
