TLDR: I was very sick but my goal is make a ācomebackā audio this weekend!
Also, content warning: some medical stuff.
Yāallā¦2022 has been a wild year for me so far. About 2 months ago I posted this, post my gallbladder removal feeling cautiously optimistic that my health issues were behind me and I could return to making audios before too long.
A day after that post, I started feeling worse and a few days later I was in the ER because I was having a stroke.
Itās still seems a little unreal that it all happened. This is very personal information but I do want to share it because:
Iām pretty young to have had a stroke, didnāt have most of the normal risk factors, and didnāt have the well known symptoms during my stroke (face drooping, unable to raise one arm, slurred speech). I encourage you all to trust your body and trust yourself when you know something is āwrongā. I know that healthcare can be super expensive and if youāre like me you may be afraid youāre āoverreactingā. But, you have to trust that you know your own body and whatās normal better than anyone.
America is pretty obsessed with the idea that independence is a huge personal virtue. This is a gentle reminder that having people in your life who you can depend on and who care for you is so important. And, letting them take care of you is important. One of my friends/co-workers was worried about me when I didnāt show up to work and didnāt call in; sheās how I managed to get to the ER even when I know longer remembered her name. You need people in your life who expect to see you or hear from you on a regular basisā¦and people who can be there at the hospital when you need them. I am incredibly grateful for all of my family and friends (and coworkers).
All things considered, I am doing really well. And, now that Iām feeling better I think Iām going to come back to making audios again. Fingers crossed, Iām going to put a new one out this weekend. Until thenā¦take care of yourself and others āŗļø
