Much to my annoyance, I have become rather proficient at spotting scammers and OF models within a message or two. So, in the hopes that more people will call fakes, OFs, and sellers out in the comments and save everyone’s time, I have decided to share my tips and tricks.
So I present to you…
.
✨A Mad Matter’s guide to spotting OF scams and sellers✨
.
Before sending a DM:
•- profile name. Anything with ‘ad’ eg ‘HumanAd1234’ ‘OkayAd5678’ etc. Anything that looks like one of Reddit’s default name suggestions is suspicious.
•- link to OF in profile bio. Or to telegram if they’re a seller.
•- posted to a large number of subreddits over a short timespan, especially if it’s with different pics and post titles.
•- posted to an OF subreddit.
•- post in subreddits for multiple cities
•- posted the same sexy pic a week or two ago.
•- listed other social media eg telegram in their post titles… and the usernames are all different. These are usually sellers.
•- travelling from the US or Australia and will only be here for a week or two.
•- ‘clean’ and ‘on birth control’ - weaker tell, but they add up.
•- pics have non-uk plug sockets etc
•- 18 years old and looking for older men. They exist, sure, but chances aren’t good.
•- posts are from hours all us law-abiding UK denizens should be asleep, like at 3 in the morning.
•- lots of posts and no comments is suspicious. So are comments suggesting that they are male if they claim to be female eg a DM request on an F4M post.
.
Chatting:
•- when they don’t read your opening message and ask you something you’ve said in there eg your age.
•- (major tell) sellers and OF girls on Reddit will call you ‘babe’, and sellers on telegram use ‘darling’ a lot. No idea why, it just makes me think they’re middle aged or grannies.
•- they’ll often want to know where you’re from before telling you where they’re from.
•- they’re from Watford. Don’t know why Watford, sorry to all Watfordonians who are actually looking for someone, but saying you’re from there will just have me ask whether you’re an OF model. Might vary based on location, if so then you’ll work it out quickly enough, but it’s Watford for me.
•- eager to get into the explicit talk quickly. Not an accurate tell, but it adds up.
•- (major tell). Kinks/dirty fantasies are dirty talk and being tied up/dominated.
•- sellers ask to move to Telegram, OF ask to move to Snapchat. Not always, but often enough.
•- the name on the Snapchat/Telegram they sent is different from one in their Reddit bio/username.
•- OF models send photos quite often, often with no relation to what you’ve said or requested (reverse image search a photo they’ve sent and see what comes up)
•- ask them to send an easy and non-sensitive pic eg of their hand in this position 🤟, or 👌, or anything else that takes less than 5 seconds to do and take a photo of. Specify that face and body are not required if they aren’t comfortable with that.
•- (riskier move) you send this ‘Here’s a pic of me’ and send random pic (landscape or a flower or something sensible that you can say ‘whoops wrong pic’ to), and they respond as though it’s an actual pic eg ‘you’re hot!’
•- they spend a lot of time between message a when sexting, and they’re generally bad at it, they want you to do the work.
•- some of copy-paste identical lines they say right before asking you to join their Of:
‘Can I tell you something?’
‘Been having financial difficulties’
‘Life has been rough recently’
‘Reddit/Snapchat/etc doesn’t allow me to send horny pics, I’ll get banned’ (it does and they won’t, the existence of r/orgasms makes that obvious)
‘Hope you’re an open minded guy’
‘Going to be deleting my account soon, contact me here’
Like, come on guys, if you’re trying to scam someone at least leave out the canned responses. Maybe they’re all running the same chatbot or something.
.
Bonus:
•- the name on the OF they sent is different from the bio/Snapchat name.
•- if you tell them you joined when you didn’t they get confused.
•- you get some very funny responses when you tell them “join my OF and then message me and then I’ll join theirs” (yes I have an OF for this exact purpose, no, no-one has ever done so. (Don’t join it, there is no benefit to doing so, I made it just to test this)).
Something along the lines of ‘deal’ or ‘can’t wait to see your content’
Followed by ‘Wait’
‘So you aren’t going to message me on OF?’
•- once ghosted for a bit they’ll say something like ‘so you aren’t going to message me on OF? 💔’ or ‘I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have said anything’ and then spit out the exact same copy-paste multiple times.
.
Extra bonus:
Scammers (besides the OF kind)
•- don’t tell anyone your exact location - stick to eg ‘a bit north of London’, or ‘I’m half an hour away from (location in their post)’, or even ‘Wycombe area’ if they’re in your area.
•- make sure you turn off your number being displayed on Telegram, FaceTime, etc.
•- if someone does try to blackmail you, screenshot the chat, ask him if his mother knows what he’s doing and whether she’s proud of him, tell him to go fuck himself, and delete the chat.
•- do not pay an escort before meeting them! Better yet, if there’s an escort on here, don’t bother with them at all- just go to an escort site, someplace where they’re verified, and find someone there!
.
I plan on updating this for at least the next week or so, so if you’ve got anything to add, drop it in the comments.
.
If there are any OF scammers or scammers in general reading this, I wish you happiness in your next life.
