Gave a Karen's sandwich to a hungry guy
Post Body

Went to Subway for Lunch about a year ago, today(the book of faces just reminded me of this). On the way, I saw a guy with a sign, asking for food. It struck me as odd, because most people ask for money to buy food, not just food.

But I got to the sandwich shop, and was standing in line, when I noticed that the person in front of me was......

….not a happy camper......

…….She was being very belligerent to the staff, and kept yelling about everything from the bread being the wrong color, to them not putting enough olives on.

The employee that was making her sandwich was handling things wonderfully. He just kept smiling, apologizing, and offering help where he could.

He let her know that he had put all the olives on that he could without up charging for a double ingredient, she just yelled at him to charge her, and put more on anyways.

This replayed for almost every ingredient, she yelled because she wanted lettuce not spinach, and when the sandwich maker put lettuce on, she screamed that she said no spinach.

on
and on
and on.

Time came to pay, and her foot long sandwich, with multiple up charged ingredients, came out to about $8.50. She screamed and yelled that this was way too much, and walked out of the store without paying, and without her food.

I've worked the food service industry, and figured that this sandwich would likely be taken out of the young guys check. So, I asked them to put it on my tab, paid the little bit extra, and took the sandwich to the guy who had been holding the sign as I was driving over.

He asked if he could shake my hand, and thanked me for helping him to feed his kids while he was out of work.

Sometimes things are put in your path so you can be the blessing other people really need.
