Apparently, I can't even ask a simple relationship question with these kids freaking out like I spit on their Teddy Bear.
What turns a friendship into a serious relationship of any kind?
The old school view was sex made it serious. With or without exclusive dating. Also living together meant sex, dates, and cohabitation (quite serious). Holy matrimony was the ultimate seriousness because the law recognizes it as well.
Yet in modern times, the concept of FWB came along about 20 years ago. This mostly meant not living together but sleeping together as well as doing all the mutual fun things couples do like vacations, dancing, movies, etc...(All the fun, none of the drama).
But, FWB was never considered serious because u were still free to date whoever and had no obligation to inform the one or few u were sleeping with.
I was recently bull-horned by these delusional, petty snowflakes for asking a question about Polyamory.
They one I and friends of mine were in... Was starting as a couple then adding a third partner to it. We 3 were exclusive and it was serious. Serious because we wanted to be romantic and intimate as well as exclusive. In the hopes that'd we'd all live together if it worked for about 6-12 months. U just don't do candle-lit, home-cooked meals for a FWB because u mutually know there aren't that many feelings involved. Obviously.
Hilariously, they were screaming at me: that isn't Polyamory! Poly is having multiple "serious" relationships. Which they explained were simply dating and sleeping with several ppl who didn't even know about each other. I laughed each time one of em piled on. So FWB has delusionally been conflated with love by these so called "ppl".
They must not even know the different types of love; u love your family, u love your dog, and u love your spouse. Friends is absolutely a type of love, but it's lesser than a romantic partner. They think there's no difference, so they call FWB poly now. It's so crazy.
They're cheapening the concept of both LOVE and FWB. I just can't believe they were so offended by the type of relationship I was in as well as my words explaining what they were talking about. It's so funny.
