Time to refresh your gear

Today us a great day to refresh all of your EDC and tactical gear so its ready for the year to come. Switch out all the batteries in your lights, optics, etc, shoot your self defense ammo that's been in your sweaty wasteband all year (I live in TX ... it's inescapable) and replace it with fresh rounds.
What's your routine to make sure you don't grab something when you need it and it's not functioning due to dead batteries?
