It's probably the same people who cry about books being banned who whined that books shouldn't have been read in school due to the content of the books. See, I was around people when I was at that high school who whined that Lord of the Flies should not have been read because it "showed the worst of human nature." These people probably cry these days about books being banned.
It's just like how people these days who say that racism should be a mental illness are the same people who used to say that "everyone's a little bit racist." My mother has told me not to say that to people.
Society exhausts me.
Edit: Yes, I also read this "controversial" book called The Chocolate War while at that high school, but I don't remember with certainty people around me whining about the content of that book. Perhaps, I only read about it online then.
