Post Body

So I have posted here before but I drive 80 miles RT from LINY to NJ for my work commute I was recently involved in an accident and I need to buy a new car to get to work. Some things to consider we get lots of snow, ice and salt on the roads. I am also saving for a wedding, repairs on my home (dormer, roof, boiler, installing an upstairs bathroom.) I also need to get to work in all weather snow, rain, storms, bilzzards etc.

The two things I have narrowed my search to are a used 2017 Chevy bolt or a new Hyundai Kona.

The Chevy bolt is cheaper used at $17,000, is electric which will save my wallet when it comes to gas and even though it comes from a Chevy dealer it didn't initially come with a warranty but after haggling I was able to include an extended warranty into the purchase price.

The Hyundai Kona limited 2020/2021 at $28,000 ($25,500 after sales and discounts)is a new car, has AWD which will be good in the snow, it will come with Hyundai's unbeatable warranty and even if it runs out ill be able to fix it since I am a DIYer and like to tinker with cars. The fact that its more expensive and will cost me more on car insurance as it is a new car is the one thing that turns me off about it.

I need to know what would the best decision be for someone in my predicate, thank you!
