So I checked into a Hyatt Regency hotel for a 4 night stay. Initially when I checked in I gave the front desk worker my chase debit card and a pending charge for the room and incidentals was placed on it, which I was fully expecting($400 for the room plus $120 deposits for a total of $520).
At the end of my stay after I received a printed out invoice of the final bill. It stated that my card was charged $400 for the room as expected. However when I checked checked my bank account, it appeared that I had been credited back the exact amount that I was charged when I checked in ($520). I was expecting to only be credited back $120 for the incidentals and then for a charge of $400 to be posted.
I figured “ok maybe they just reversed the original charge, and in the next few minutes they’ll probably charge my card $400 and it will show up on my statement soon”. I waited for a few hours and saw nothing, then I waited a day, still no charge. I called chase and they have no record of a $400 charge either.
Since they issued an invoice could this be a mistake and they credited too much? Is it, that a charge is coming and they just haven’t gotten around to it yet? Or have I somehow fallen through a loophole due to human error?
Has anyone had a similar experience?
