"Has the order selected a new companion for me, Knight-Commander?"

The demon hunter looked impatient as he sat across a desk from the leader of his order, tapping a finger against the arm of the heavy oak chair. For his part, the knight-commander of the Silver Order was not rushed as he carefully wrote out the last of his entry to the tome in front of him. The hunter did his best not to sigh, watching as the older man tapped the point of his quill in the inkwell, adding one last flourish to his signature before he set it aside.

Rhys tried to keep his reaction still. He recognized a test of his patience when he was given one.

Knight-Commander Parry met the hunter's gaze and smiled, even as he held silent for a long pause. After that moment, he nodded. "She's been selected and bound, Rhys. The demon trapped inside her, and she's awaiting your mark. I presumed you would want to handle that alone?"

Rhys, for his years in the service, still blushed at the implication in his commander's tone. The rituals of the Order were well known to him, and seal a succuba in a mortal was- well, it was an intimate affair. It gave the girl access to powers that he could call upon for her to use, but only if she was bound to him personally...

And the creature the Order had bound into him years ago insisted that Rhys handle the final acts personally.

He stood from the chair, a hand falling to the dagger sheathed at his hip. "Yes, sir, I appreciate it. She's in the cells?" Nodding thanks to his superior officer, he turned to leave the office. Time to find out what was to be presented before him now...

The Silver Order takes young acolytes, traps demons into them, and sends them out into the world to fight the forces of evil, bending the powers of the fiends to serve humanity. The unholy creatures eventually destroy the servants of the order, but to sacrifice their lives in the service of good, it's worth it, right? And if they can hold back the devastation by occasionally indulging in a few sins, well, that's why they work in pairs.

Captain Rhys, a demon hunter, only recently lost his previous companion, and he's just been given a new one- a healer who will be beholden to him. But the succubus bound into his new companion will certainly want her voice to be heard...
