Hello and welcome to my channel, errrr reddit post. This is for more detailed info about me that isn't covered by the FAQ.
Lets get right down to it.
Physical
First thing most people want to know. Physical. So I'm 5'10 190 lbs (gained some covid weight but starting to work on losing it). Black hair, the length to be determined by how long it's been since I've been to a barber. I'm Chinese Asian, born in Canada. If you really need a mental picture. Somewhere between Masi Oka and Sung kang. Yes, I know that neither of them are Chinese but its the same basic round face and hairline. If you passed me by in the street, probably wouldn't notice me. If you saw me at my PT job, you'd almost certainly notice me. You can ask my age but I don't really like to give it out. Suffice to say that I'm most likely older than the average lot of you on these forums. I'm not some 50 year old almost retired (that would be a dream) guy, but i'm also not some 22 year old just starting out in life. I don't really judge your little/middle age, lets keep mine as whatever you think is appropriate for now.
Work
As stated in the FAQ I currently work a day job and an occasional PT job. Day job is akin to debuggin. For those who are programming savvy, I'm in QA (currently). This may change as I've grown bored of the current project / company and may make a move somewhere else. It pays slightly below average and less that what I'd like to "survive" but its not bad. I'm not well off (not even close to it) but I was able to scrounge up enough for the mythical 1 year living expenses emergency fund during my working years.
The PT job is more of the fun one. Instead of a social life I go work at the PT job. Easiest way to say it is I work at concerts / festivals / events. It used to be at a physical location though covid basically shut everything down. As things are re-opening events are being planned but nothing is truly confirmed yet. Due to my work ethic, and basically knowing a few companies etc I also end up doing some festivals. And yes that includes the larger concert/festivals. As I said, its my fun job cause i get to run around, do stuff, and get paid (not much) to do it.
Interests
Hmm interests vary from month to month and year to year. One of the big ones is being "cheap". I love finding ways to stretch my dollar or find a cheaper alternative to something. This doesn't mean I don't spend money. Just means that I'm willing to make certain compromises. A good example is "cable tv". I do like channel hopping but the local cable company usually charges an arm and a leg for basic cable. You end up saving some if you bundle it with internet land line etc. Lets say total cost is $140 a month (plus taxes). Well I found that even with the basic cable there wasn't much to watch so I looked up OTA (over the air) antennas and figured out how to set it up for my place. Did a lot of research about broadcasting stations in the area etc. etc. and basically now TV is free (roku antenna) internet landline is only $50 a month after switching companies. I also love going to thrift store, finding random equipment etc. and fixing it up.
As for other interests. Right now I'm looking into learning hypnosis (for fun). Trying to figure out app development as i have a few ideas for random games. I'm have some musical training but in practice I'm not really great at it. Also I've been watching Critical Role clips so i kind of want to give D&D a try. As you can see, my interests are kind of all over the place so if you have something you want to show me, I'd probably be okay to try as long as it's not super physical.
Emotional
Hmmm. This is a tougher one as I'm not super in touch with my emotions. I also have some trust issues, or I'm saying that i do as my defense mechanism. Now saying that i don't trust people doesn't mean i won't be polite / caring towards someone. It just means that i won't reveal as much as of personal info to them. Using my PT job as an example, none of my co-workers there know much about me They know I have a day job, though not what I do, nor do they know about my social life, preferred gaming method etc. That being said, they also know they can count on me at any given point. It's difficult to explain but in essence, if actions speak louder than words, i try to show my actions are that one of someone you can trust. I don't know. Maybe one of you can crack me and figure all this out.
Eliminators
Everyone has their own preference in people, as do I. I'm just gonna list out things that I've found discourage people from messaging me/ meeting me.
- I smoke - cigarettes not the green stuff. Working on quitting. I don't care if you smoke other things but I don't as it just makes me nauseas. Yes I've tried multiple times
- I am not a white 6ft tall muscle dude - Total dad bod right now, made slightly worse by covid
- I work, a lot. Sometimes 80 hrs a week. It gets particularly bad in summer. This explains why getting together is important. Also why I'm sometimes unreachable. Hey, I got a goal in mind and I'm trying to reach it via working.
- I may seem emotionally distant - see blurb above.
- I don't have most social media. Well sort of. I have a Facebook account which i haven't touched since 2013? Don't have twitter, tiktok, LinkedIn. Basically i have little to no digital footprint. I have apps in order to chat and whatnot but not much else. Reddit being the exception.
Thanks for reading to the end. I will probably add more things or edit as I figure out what people want to know. If you haven't been scared off, feel free to drop me a line.
