After a bunch of research, I figured out the issue. So telegram got some hate because it was impossible to determine if a channel is sending porn or not. Similar to reddit where anything with an NSFW tag will be blurred by default. In case someone's in public & doesn't want to be seen with porn on their phone.

So instead of simply having some kind of NSFW tag, they decided to make it as difficult as humanly possible lol

Go to Menu > Settings > Privacy and Security > Turn on "Disable Filtering".
