I wasn't even sure if I was going to post about this, but it's bothering me enough that I didn't want to keep quiet about it. I just had to report an audio of mine that was stolen and posted on Soundcloud (LINK).

It doesn't matter to me that they credited me because I specifically say I don't want my content reposted anywhere. I'm sure most of you get this, but I need to have control over my stuff--it's sensitive, it's vulnerable and it's explicit. To have that control taken away from me is a violation of my consent and it really sucks.

A lot of the comments there are disrespectful and creepy. I think because I'm not the one posting it, people feel disconnected from the person enough to say whatever they want. From the way they're writing, I also worry that a lot of these commentors are minors, which is extremely upsetting.

I reported it, as "pornography" because striking for copyright infringement requires you submit your full name, phone number, address and I wasn't comfortable with that. The same channel has some other male VAs work, and I've reached out to some of the ones I was able to to let them know.

I know this happens to a lot of people, but if it becomes a regular enough thing, I'm going to have to stop posting audios. It's just way too risky and it makes me feel really anxious.

It sucks because I was excited to record last night, and I wish I was posting a new audio this morning instead of this.

If you're comfortable reporting them for breaking Soundcloud's rules about pornography, please do. Hopefully more reports will get it taken down quicker.
