significance is something related to but not the same as strength of correlation. you can have tiny but significant findings; also the 0.5 claim is very incorrect, especially in social sciences.

I unfortunately didn't collect national origin. I did collect age, though! Age surprisingly correlated with extremely little, and weakly.
