Does anyone have plans for this "One Sheet Rockler Challenge" TT/Board Game Table
Post Body

Does anyone have plans for this "rockler challenge" TT/Board Game Table

Blows away most designs that use 2 sheets! (IMHO), using ONLY 1 sheet! (& some fabric)

  • I assume they have used a hardwood face plywood (to reduce "use wear", like writing on it), but designer confirms they used 3/4"
  • See pics/video, I am having issues "putting the parts/cuts, on a 1 sheet cut diagram"
  • "Vault" is 4" according to video
  • Gaming surface is claimed in video info to be "The play area is a bit under 3' square, so it should fit most games, but not the large ones."
  • "How deep is card slot" = "Hey! I believe it was about 1/4" deep and just the width of a saw blade (1/8"). I'm not sure about the angle, maybe 30\? I used a test piece to see what worked best before I cut them out. Good Luck!"*
  • "Bottom" of "game table" is 28/29", to 32/33" "lip/runner", from floor (??eye balling??)
  • 8x Top cover "Slats" are also cut from, same, single sheet
  • Trays are form the same, single sheet, but "cup holder" is 3D printed (but still on a plywood plate)
  • Appears designed for up to 4 seats/concurrent users
  • Seems suitable for a 32" to 40" HDTV "insert"

Reverse Engineering The Table

Update: Take with a "grain of salt", this is not yet perfect

////

NEWEST SECTION: 3rd NEAR PERFECT revision (1/8" Saw lines)

  1. BETTER if you have a "laser thin" 1/16" sawblade (For the 17 cuts to length = 1" saved)
  2. I need a more experienced eye/hand to review this and confirm (I am no pro)
  3. Vault & Dice/Card Rim = You can interchange these, depending on preference of vault height
  • 1st cut = remove slats/large group of supports > 2nd: Remove tabletop > 3rd: Remove Leg line, = Bottom off Right off Left off, then remove smaller parts
  • Cut 1 leg (2 parts) from hardboard/scraps, use as jig to make eight (4 4) PERFECTLY identical leg sections
  • We get exactly 36" x 36" table top, & 27" tall legs/Tabletop bottom
  • My "Leg Triangle cut line" is slightly off/all over the place << WATCH IT/FIX IT
  • FOUR (4) triangle supports brace 27" legs (4x4", cut in half at a 45, in to 2x triangles)
  • The tabletop is 36x36", the slats are 4x33" >> Use 1" Slotted & 3" card/dice rims to narrow gap 2"
  • TEN (10) Extra triangle supports will assist this

BEST ONE, 3sq in of 4608 wasted (under 0.1% waste)

OLDER BLAH BLAH

///

34" x 34" Table top (maybe a hair less/more)

HERE, my rough "eye ball" plans, done in Paint dot net, so its NOT pixel perfect

Legs shown are 30"... I think thats 2" or 3" bigger than required "FIX THIS IN PLANS"

  • Allows the recovered area to become TABLE cleats, freeing "dark purple" for more table top

FIXES?? BETTER?? (8x "Every Day Top" Slats = each, 6" x 36 or 6" x 33" on a "lip")

  1. MIGHT BE ABIT OFF > on 30x30 table top with "double 36 inch (72")" table cover slats
  2. REDUCING SLATS SLIGHTLY to "Double 33 inch (66")" = 34" x 34" table top possible
  3. FREEING SOME "RED" FOR MORE TABLE TOP
  4. You would need to trim 1/4" off each "card/dice tray" & "slotted rim" section

Either way...this is getting PRETTY CLOSE (& we can free u, up to, 4" x 4" for MORE TABLE TOP)

  • Maybe a 34" x 34" table top (with many test cutting/planning, maybe 36" x 36" at the extreme)
  • Supports, Legs, Slotted rim, Card/dice tray and Vault lifts = Ideal sources to "regain area" with legs resized and rest with 1/8" "trims" (to each of their "sections")
  • Key lays in resizing "slats" PERFECTLY

30" x 30" Variant (Assembled)

  • Additional cuts/bevels to these parts obvious in video
  • Should be no issue, given area we have access to

My rough eye ball 16sq in wasted of 4608sq in = 0.347222% waste

36" x 36" Variant (Well 35" x 35" Assembled)

  • Additional cuts/bevels to these parts obvious in video
  • ALL of "Card/Dice" holder cut offs become the cover lip support
  • Would require EXTREME planning/test cuts to make "jigs" for cuts to use area PERFECTLY
  • LEGS UNDER MOUNT (NOT "side"), as shown in video, to conserve length use

36\" x 36\" Variant, 0% waste

Pics of Cuts (Note: Top looks slightly rectangular, finished?)

  1. it might just be angle of video making it look "not square"
  • Upper left/far right, sideways = 4 Legs, in 8 sections
  • mid left = 2 boards > vault, or "rim boards" (???)
  • lower 4 slats = cut in half as "8x top cover slats" (?)
  • Far right, upper most > part of vault, or "rim boards" (???)
  • MISSING SECTIONS > more "part of vault", or "rim boards" & "Trays/Cleats" (???)

Left \"Cuts\" still shot

  • Far right upper > vault, or "rim boards" (???)
  • Far right, lower, table top ( excess supports/cleats/trays)

Right \"Cuts\" still shot

French Cleat Style Tray Holder Install

  • LEGS UNDER MOUNT (NOT "side"), as shown in video, to conserve length use
  • Six(6) 2x2" (to 4x4"?) square, cut on a 45, becomes supports, THREE (3) per side (12)
  • 8x Table cleats look cut from "planned off cuts" roughly 1-1/2" x 4" & 1-1/2" x 5" sets (45 )
  • 8x Tray cleats look cut from "planned off cuts" roughly 1-1/2" x 4" & 1-1/2" x 5" sets (45-)

\"French cleat\" tray holder

"Every Day Use" Top/Hidden Game Area (looks "not square")

  • it might just be angle of video
  • that "rim/lip", for cover slats, is "edge of slot rim, hanging over top of vault lift panel"
  • main mount for "dice/card rim" is also (shared mounting) on vault lift panel

the removable top

Table Complete/Card Holder Grove/Channel

  • both sets of "user/drink trays" cut as ONE 10x10" & ONE 8x8" square
  • Equally subdivided in to FOUR separate squares (the tray sets) each (5x5" & 4x4")

complete
