[This is a collection of fictional historical information relating to the change of government of "Essland", a made-up country in a misogynisitc alternate-reality that I write about... I know, a strange creative outlet]

-GROWTH OF THE PRO-MISOGYNY MOVEMENT-
The Natural Woman's Role (NWR) movement had evolved significantly since it's founding in 2012 (see Chapter 9 for details on NWR history) and by 2016 was working parrallel to international diplomatic pressure against Essland's old "equality" government. The international community demanded that Essland's government allow NWR's publications, community groups and social campaigns, much of which had been subdued or outlawed prior to 2016. With the allowance of this free speech, the NWR was well positioned to respond to the Assylum Disaster of 2017.
The established "equality" government had maintained a protective asylum policy for woman wishing to avoid their natural purpose in neighbouring nations, with a small handful of women able to evade their domestic police forces and illegally seek protection in Essland consulates, before being granted assylum and transport to Essland.
However, in 2017 civil unrest and a border guard strike in the USA led to disaster. Nearly three thousand poor, unled and misunderstanding women were swept up in hysteria and rushed for the Essland consultate in Washington, creating a stampede on a narrow bridge and one of the worst human disasters of the decade with hundreds of lives lost.
Doing their duty, the NWR exposed the disastrous effect of the "equality" governments asylum policy, proposing that it create far greater harm than benefit to women, an argument which gained so much public support that the policy was scrapped and any future migrant attempts were deported as 'stolen property'. The publicity solidified the pro-misogyny movement as entirely relevant to many.
-ENTERING POLITICS-
Having far surpassed the notoriety and public support of any previous pro-misogyny groups in Essland, the NWR reorganised in 2018 to make strategic use of backing from sympathetic international agencies and formally began a political party, as well as recieving international recognition of it's social and political science degrees run entirely by the NWR (though these degrees were not recognised domestically, many still took them to improve their internal employment opportunities).
Elections in 2019 put NWR members or independent backers into a number of minor political offices. Though the nation continued to function under it's "equality" ideology, the effectiveness of elected NWR members in general governance made them essential, leading to a number of minority parties choosing to align themselves with the NWR.
-VIOLENT OPPOSITION-
Vocal opposition to the NWR, and similar pro-misogyny movements, grew rapidly following the 2019 election, with organised opposition groups becoming bolder as NWR's political support grew. By the start of 2023 nearly 34,000 of the most strongly opposed Essland citizens had organised into an underground terror group, prepared to use violence to overthrow the Essland government should the pro-misogyny coalition win the coming election and constitutional reform.
Fortunately, the NWR's security division, with the aid of international allies, were aware of the sedition plot and prepared to stop the bloodshed. A national security law was invoked prior to the release of election results, allowing the new government to act immediately, prior to public announcements, in the largest anti-terror campaign ever attempted. Nearly all 34,000 identified terrorists were arrested with minimal casualities, only then were the election results released to the public. The operation also secured extensive intel on networks and groups who were formalised as enemies of the state and slowly dismantled over the first few months of the new government.
The pro-misogyny coalition won the general election by more than 22 points, allowing it to immediately formalise and act upon the passing of the new Constitution which was passed by 12 points in the same election. Our new Constitution established a more stable and effective form of government, removing career politicians and popularist national elections and established local voting systems for all men. The Constitution also provided a series of protections and rights afforded to male citizens and formalised the only neccessary right for women: the right to be owned and not grotesquely harmed."

Things have moved so quickly.
If I went back and asked myself 5 years ago, I would have said this whole misogyny movement was a joke. There was no way they would do anything meaningful, no chance of any real power in Essland. I genuinely thought their support and member numbers were inflated nonsense, all of the men I knew didn't support that rubbish.
That's what I would have said before the election in 2019. Ever since then the whole thing has been getting louder and louder. I guess my day-to-day wasn't really effected, I just sort of avoided it all. I stopped watching the news. Stopped raising the question with friends, and definitely stopped dating. I think I just hoped all this stuff would die down like waking up from a bad dream.
Now it's becoming unavoidable... just in the last 12 months almost every women I know has stopped going out alone, some of us won't out at night at all. And you really have to be careful what you say about women's rights or equality or anything of the sort, best case scenario you start some sort of heated debate when someone doesn't agree.
And it's not just 'others'. People I consider my friends. Women have started to show sympathy for patriachal systems. More than one close friend suggested I read some of the pro-misogyny self-help books or papers. Some girls have even publically committed themselves to the cause, announcing themselves to be the "property" of their husbands or boyfriends. Sickening.
The election is in a few weeks and things are just so far removed from anything I could have thought was possible. I really thought Essland was cemented in it's values. But I guess I was wrong."

Holy shit. I've only just stopped long enough to scribble notes. The polls opened 6am on Monday and by midday they annouced that counting was ongoing but results were delayed for security reasons, it sounded a bit weird but it was so much worse. Some friends who had been outspoken protestors of the whole pro-misogyny movement went silent on their socials Monday morning, I just figured they were protesting somewhere but all the voting booths I passed had been entirely calm! And then Monday evening the results began to be published in small chunks and there it was, plastered all over every news station and article right alongside the election results: a huge police raid right across Essland. It was awful, there were videos on the news showing hundreds of people dressed in black and handcuffed, piles of weapons being pulled out of homes and cars, what the fuck is going on!?
Before that was even cleared up enough votes had been counted to confirm the passing of the new Constitution and government. I don't think the world I know will ever be the same again."
