I was your typical townie in a big city (London, New York, etc..) looking for a start. I moved from my midwestern state of Indiana a few years after high school, with money that I saved up for 5 years. Starting when I was 16, and ending at 21. While I had a good bit of padding, the big city was a different beast than I was used to. I could be bled dry if I wasn't careful.
I wanted the life that I saw in movies and shows. It would be the exact opposite of my life back home, and I thought I was ready for that change.
God, how wrong I was. There was so much going on at all times. The only solace I had was when I was alone in my apartment. Said apartment was expensive to my standards, but the cheapest I could find.
So, I started the job search immediately. Applying for jobs that were anything from a secretary to an underpaid intern. After about three hours of this, I closed my laptop and put it on the side of my bed. I stared at my white ceiling for a few moments before getting up and putting my coat on. I decided tonight, that I would drink a little and continue the search tomorrow.
After five too many drinks, I went home with some charming man. We had sex, not my proudest moment, I woke up before he did and left. It was my first, and hopefully only, one-night stand with a guy. After a few days of job searching, I scored an interview with a big company. The interview went well, I got a call back the next day that I got the job. I was to be the secretary of the CEO. I heard he could be a difficult man, but I was hoping he might take pity on me on my first day.
I came to work the next day in my best clothes and came face to face with the CEO. There was something....familiar about him.
