Temperature in the back of Uhaul?

I’m looking into renting a Uhaul to move across the country. I do have valuables made of plastic that shouldn’t be kept in heat (made of PVC). Is there temperature control in the Uhaul? What tips are there to keep everything from melting? Or should I try my best to pack them into the family car?
