Hiding/compacting media elements in twitter

I struggle with the media elements on twitter. Currently i have blocked them from loading using ubo. But this leaves a flat colored rectangle where the media would be. Clicking on it also is broken for me rn.
I don’t want to get rid of the media tweets. Just want to be able to collapse them so that media element is invisible or better replaced by a small placeholder that could be clicked to get the media if needed. Is that possible?
