This is an appreciation post because there’s no reviews for her specifically and I just need to give her the biggest shout out. Dr Mortera has been my doctor for almost 3 years and I just have to say she’s the best doctor in all of UHC. I remember complaining about my BMI being high and her telling me that it’s arbitrary and doesn’t take into account body fat percentage, and that the creator of the BMI scale was racist and I was SHOOK. I never expected her to be so progressive and validating?? She said that measuring my health in terms of my mobility and my ability to run or walk for long periods of time is more important than the number on the scale. so refreshing considering doctors usually body shame lol
She’s also super helpful with any mental health issues, and she always validates me rather than speak over me. She’s googled things alongside me and she has spent almost 20 minutes just speaking to me to ensure all my needs are met. I’m going to miss her since I just graduated and won’t be able to see her for much longer but I just highly recommend her!!! She’s genuinely irreplaceable 😭🤍. Doesn’t even feel like a GP more like a counsellor or colleague!
