Hi folks,
Back when I got my 1970 Hermes Ambassador, I had to find out that the left-hand platen fastener - i.e. the small rod that holds the platen in place and can be pulled out to change the platen - had broken. I tried various ways to re-attach the two pieces (metal glue, soldering, etc.) but none of them worked.
So I was wondering if someone has this part as a spare and would be willing to sell and ship it to me. I already tried my local typewriter repair guy, and quote:
The Hermes Ambassador is a very beautiful but also very rare machine. It was not often sold at that time! Spare parts of any kind are absolutely scarce. Cannot be found!
That's why I'm counting on our community's hive mind :) Ideally, I'd love to get a matching white one, but the sea-foam green ones are also OK in a pinch.
