A lot of tycoon games these days are either simple like Game Dev Tycoon or requires some effort in building and placing items (software inc, mad games tycoon, city game studio), where the layout can affect your productivity and other stats. It just seems weird to me that software inc feels like the original Sims in terms of building/placing items but the simulation aspect hasn’t really changed much or improved in years (afaik).
I’m working on a game that focuses on the management/simulation aspect, more akin to something like GearCity than the game dev tycoon games, and wanted to know if I was the only one who felt this way. I personally don’t care for the building aspect (too much micromanagement for me).
What are your preferences when it comes to building and placing objects for management/economic simulation games?
Edit: grammar, clarification
