Hey everyone, as promised, and playing off of the fun and success we had with Operation Race to be Second Best, here is the first of our monthly contests! Sadly I'm getting this out a bit later than I had planned (busy week at work), but I think we still have plenty of time for this to be a success!
So, here's the contest details- and if you aren't a writer and were disappointed by not being able to participate in Second Best, this contest may be for you!
- Submission due date: May 28, 2100 EST
- Medium: Action Comic, 4 panels, non-colored lineart is fine
- Theme: Any time from any run we found ourselves in an impossible situation but were somehow able to pull of a miracle
- Voting Period: May 28, 2100 EST to May 31, 2100 EST
That's the short explanation on it, but to hammer out some more details so we hopefully have a much more clear set of contest rules this time, allow me to expand on some things:
- Firstly, while artistic ability will naturally be one of the ways that people judge on submissions for voting, I don't want people feeling like they shouldn't submit because they feel their drawing ability isn't up to par with other submitters...that is why we are not only allowing non-colored lineart only submissions, but we're going to have expanded voting options that I'll get into more detail on below.
- Still feel a little uneasy about submitting your own art, but have a great idea for dialogue and story? Collabs are allowed! Feel free to share the work with someone else! Limited to two people per submission.
- Voting will be more streamlined this time with voting options made clear to avoid any confusion.
- Once again reddit gold is on the line for the winning submissions, but we're throwing in bonus prizes that go beyond just reddit, so stay tuned for more info on that!
- You can post your submission as its own post on the SR, just make sure to leave a link in the comments below, this will count as officially submitting it.
- As with last time, I will keep a running list in this contest thread of all the submissions so far so they will be easy for people to find and access.
"Ok, that all sounds great crimson, but what about these expanded voting options you were talking about?" Great question! Once again we will have a "Top 3" podium for our most voted for options, but so that everyone feels like they have a chance we're adding two extra categories: Best Story/Dialogue and Most Memorable Moment.
Best Story/Dialogue is pretty much just as it sounds, regardless of how good (or 'an attempt was made' bad) the art is, people can vote on what comic they felt had the best writing!
Most Memorable Moment is more of a fun thing to see what moments from the stream people decide to put into their comics. Voters will be able to vote on which moment was most memorable to them.
Okay, this has been a wall of text, I'll give extra information over the course of the next few weeks as we get closer to the contest end and as inevitably some questions come through because I'm not the most organized person in the world LUL
