Okay. The replies to my posts before were indeed correct. Episode 8 was indeed a wtf filled surreal acid trip mixed with an ep of the Twilight Zone. SO MANY QUESTIONS. Let me go point by point.
The ep starts off quite easy to follow but once Mr C is gunned down (and suprisingly transitions to not just a segment, but a full performance of NiN lmao), it then descends into the equivalent of the 3rd act of 2001: A Space Odyssey; a sensory overloaded kick to the head that makes me wonder HOW this ties into the narrative...cuz wtf.
First off: It starts off with a nuclear test in the late 40's, then slaps me with imagery of the ghost thing in ep 1 puking out (birthing) what seems to be BOB before moving to The Giant and to a woman dressed in flapper fashion who reside in some fortress(?) looming over the same purple ocean seen in the ep where Cooper escapes this "dimension"
The Giant then "turns off" a bell thing before pulling up what we saw earlier on a screen in what seems to be a theatre, before planking mid-air and producing a Dragonball/Inside Out that has Laura Palmer's face (spirit/essence) which is then picked up and sent to Earth(?) via the same screen (and some sort of pneumatic tube).
What the F was this all about? My theories about this part: (no spoilers please if you know the answer to this lol)
The Nuke test created some sort of dimensional rift (which seems to prove my point somewhat since the following sequence does reference the same area of New Mexico) & BOB was birthed from this entity. The Giant & 1920's Flapper woman, and the B & W place is The White Lodge, the good equivalent of the Black Lodge & referenced in the first 2 seasons. I have no idea what golden orb Laura Palmer is supposed to mean tho lol.
The 3rd act of the ep ia set in 1956 & is somewhat less surreal than the middle bit but still fucking cryptic.
An egg hatches a humanoid bug in the desert. Some ghost hobos materialize. One of said ghost hobos ask for a light, kill the occupants of a radio station, chants a poem (spell?) which seems to be referencing the "Fire Walk with Me" poem & said humanoid bug thing enters the mouth of the teen we see earlier after passing out/sleeping.
My theories on this....No fcking idea.
How the hell does this tie in the overall narrative?
Pics below: Some neat things in the credits and no idea why "The" is in quotes while mentioning NiN.
