Twilight Ending (SPOILER!!)

I just watched the full saga for the first time and I don't really get the ending. Why not choose to end the tyranny of the volturi? Sure everyone stays alive if they don't fight but they also live in fear that the volturi pick them off one group at a time and always looking over there shoulder. It gives me Disney vibes kind of an ending.
