Tropes that are too similar, when should I use each?
Post Body

It can be difficult to know which one to use, what's the difference between these tropes?

  • The Gloves Come Off vs Godzilla Threshhold. What's the difference? Say someone normally has a no kill policy, but goes on a rampage killing many due to exceptional danger, which would it be?
  • Bitch in Sheeps Clothing vs. A Wolf In Sheeps Clothing. What's the difference?
  • The Gadfly vs Troll vs Sadist. What's the difference? Sadist usually means for physical torture, but most real sadists are emotional sadists, which makes them eligible for the former two? I know of a character who loves to have others hate him, gets a big smile when a person he hates is inwardly suffering, and makes fun of large groups of people, how do I tell which to use?
