Question from a first timer

Childhood dream of owning a turtle will soon become a reality. Any recommendations for the first day?
- If I do not have a cycled tank and it was put together the same day of purchasing the turtle, will the turtle have trouble adjusting? I am kinda impulsive and do not want to potentially hurt an innocent animal if I can take precautions. I see that people recommend a tank that’s been cycled for month or two so it makes me worry.
Any input is welcome as well as criticism. Thank you!
