So I have a map turtle I've had him for a few months now. I started him out in a 10 gallon because he was so tiny. He would bask daily and explore and dig in the 10 gallon. He has since grown out of the 10gallon and I transitioned him into my 75 gallon tank. Since being in the 75gal which is a community tank he has adjusted nicely gets along with all the fish, snails, and even my crayfish. He loves to explore and dig the substrate and pull up plants (he enjoys digging and finding things i.e. trumpet snails). I even got him feeder fish and he won't eat them he will swim with the fish and will even allow my dojo loaches sleep on his shell when he is resting. However ever since I moved him into the 75gal tank he doesn't bank anymore. The water temperature is within range and there are no issues with water parameters. He has always been more skidish when he would bask and I was even able to get him to eat from my hand when in the 10 gallon tank but he doesn't do either of them anymore. He eats his food no problem but he just plays with it first. I know it's important for turtles to bask but I also can't force him to bask. Is there anything I can do to try and encourage him to bask? I'm just concerned he will get sick, development issues as he is still growing even though he is almost fully grown. I will remove him from the tank and clean him with a soft toothbrush and water and he enjoys it and I haven't noticed any concerns with shell rot or anything as of yet. I just want to make sure that nothing is wrong with him.
