So I had picked up an old antique desk two winters ago that I noticed had electronics on the inside (I had a similar post around then), to my surprise it was a Collao record player and Capeheart stereo receiver. The desk was ruined from sitting in the snow but the electronics were perfectly fine. Cleaned it all up and made it a new home on a long shelf. Did a lot of digging and tried searching up the stickers that belonged to the two but can't really find much information on the item itself. They were sold with the desk I found back around the 60's (I believe?) from the UK. However they sold the desks with different brand/model appliances. As far as I know the record player plate mat says Collaro but a sticker that was on the inside says B600 series. The two were completely gutted and rewired to each other so the record player cannot be used separately from the stereo. Which comes my question, if anyone knows anything about the stereo receiver, do you know if it was equipped with a preamp? * The issue I'm having is that it's not loud*..the stereo is loud, really freaking loud especially with the speakers I salvaged from it, but anything played from the record player is extremely quiet. It's a brand new stylus and head, not top of the line, but something to atleast let it work. There's also a bit of radio interference when using the record player. Especially when a cellphone is near it. I'm not sure how to go about grounding when the wiring is the most bizarre mess of wires I've ever seen.
