Hi all - trying to figure out the right upgrade path from my Edifier R1700 and Audio-Technica AT-LP60BK. My assumption is that upgrading the cart/needle on the record player some good speakers is the move, but am a bit lost. I have about ~$700 to spend, so am also open to other upgrade paths.

I have a small-ish living room and these will be centered in the room on an entertainment stand. No plans to utilize them for my TV sound (unless someone can convince me otherwise)? We listen to everything, but mostly electronic and indie stuff (think Four Tet, Bon Iver, Burial) and the occasional pop punk or symphony stuff.
