How does an automatic or manual operation factor into a turntable?

Post Body
I’m looking to buy my first ever turntable. I’m deciding between two from Audio Technica. I’m contemplating between the LP3 and LPW30. The LP3 is automatic, while the other is a manual operation. So I’m just wondering how the automatic or manual operations factor into use. Both have an adjustable counterweight which I would prefer in my first turntable. So if y’all can provide some insight, I would greatly appreciate it.
