Best local dog parks? What's the unspoken dog park etiquette I should know?

Post Body

I have a very large (100lb) golden retriever that is suffering from stress and anxiety as I get ready to move. I fear our isolation from others is also affecting him as I don't have any family or friends in the area. He's been scared to go leave the driveway (unless in a car) because he was attacked by a pit bull not once, but twice within the last six months. We play ball everyday in the yard but he mostly just lays beside me as I do things around the house. I worry he is unfulfilled.

I want to take him to a park to socialize but I am not familiar with the area and don't know the safest parks for him. He loves other dogs, we used to meet up with five other goldens weekly and he loved it. At that park there were unspoken rules we all just learned to follow, like keeping your dog leashed at first & walking him around the park to get adjusted to the other dogs before releasing him and getting ahold of your dog if another person entered the park or was having trouble wrangling their dog in - things like that.

What parks are good for a big ole loveable anxious dog? Are there rules like this besides obviously picking up his waste. Can I bring toys to play with him or leave them at home?
