I’ve checked my bag in the past with a bottle of wine or a couple of cans/bottles of beer inside, wrapped in clothing to keep it safe from breaking, but last time I went back home to Wisconsin, I saw a passenger check an entire case of beer (the box was from a popular brewery that does not distribute out of state) and I would like to do the same so I can bring more beer back.

I know I have liquid ml limitations and I know I have to check this, but my questions are: 1. Can I check an entire case (12 glass bottles) in the original unopened cardboard box? Or 2. Do I have to open the box to pad the glass bottles with some kind of foam/paper 3. Is this common/will the handlers know to not toss the whole box onto/off the plan? 4. Is there a way to pay for fragile handling?

I’m so sorry if this has been asked before but I’d love some insight!

(Note: my father was TSA for many years and normally I would ask him these questions but he is out of the country with no service and will be on a long flight home when I’m going to be getting ready to leave in 2 days!) TYIA!!!

EDIT: since I’m not receiving the answer I’m looking for, let me rephrase: can I actually check a cardboard box with 12 glass bottles in it or do I have to wrap each individual bottle in bubbles or paper?

I am not checking a bag. I would love to just check a box of beer.
