You can explain however many times to someone but they still won’t get it. They’ll never understand what it’s like to go through identity and body changes like we do. These people will never understand how important it is to us and that it can be a life or death situation. No one gets how painful and confusing and scary all of this can be. They don’t understand that just because we decide to do something one day doesn’t mean we can’t change our minds on it the next depending on how our body’s feel at the moment. They don’t understand how disrespectful it is to not listen to us fully when we tell them what we want.

But yet these are the majority of people who will vote and decide what laws pertaining to us gets passed and who gets to govern us. Sometimes it’s useful to remind yourself that it’s a losing battle with this stuff and to not get your hopes up too high.
