There’s always been more focus done for the treatment of dysphoria than the reason behind it. We don’t know exactly why dysphoria occurs and how. So how are we sure that transitioning can be the only solution? Right now with our understanding of the condition, sure, but in reality that’s not how treating conditions work.
There’s been the gendered brains theories that have gone in and out of validity claims. There’s also the brain trauma and psychological trauma claims too. All are flawed in how they’re handled and treated. I just think there’s something that’s missing in the current research.
What if it turns out it’s a physical deformity in the brain and it effects how it treats hormone response? Or what if it’s an issue with how our brain receives chromosome receptors and signals while we’re in the womb being formed? Nothing can be said for sure.
Without having a clear answer, treatment is never going to be as effective as it can be. Obviously medical transitioning helps relieve dysphoria but why exactly? That’s the part that’s not well understood.
