(This is based on the Orion vs Kwite thing for context but not the entire point of the post)

I was listening to a youtuber talk about the Orion scandal and how if a trans person online tries to play victim they’ll always have an easy time getting support. This made me think about how some will try to use the trans card as a way to get away with things.

This was the complete opposite mindset I had while I was only socially transitioning. I was very careful and overly self critical of how I could be perceived by others. I did everything I could to make sure no one could falsely accuse me of anything perverted or violent. While I was in high school it felt like there was a giant stigma of trans people connected with rapists and violence. The idea of trying to use the fact that I was trans as a way to get away with something or atleast use it as a shield to criticism would’ve never crossed my mind.

But then there’s people like Orion who will blatantly use their afab and trans status as a way to garner sympathy and support even though what they did was wrong. While this situation was playing out I would think to myself “Oh great, another trans person who’s going to create even more problems for the community than we already have”

I don’t know but it feels like when a trans person gets exposed and called out for something it’s never just directed towards them but the community as a whole. The same thing with Jeffery Marsh or other transgender people who get caught or seen as criminals. Due to their actions there’s always going to be that added on fear and mistrust put on the rest of us. It seems like the general public will lump us all together for one persons actions and paint us as though we all do it too.
