Also the nature of an acid or chemical clean is designed to break down and remove deposits that you can’t remove with conventional cleaning, so ultimately if something has touched your trumpet and you haven’t cleaned it off properly it will damage the finish and the acid will do the rest of the work.
A shop can’t ethically be held responsible for what damage is already there in the first place.
My 20 something year old Bach has a lot of this sort of finish damage and ultimately that’s due to my sweaty teenage hands and laziness. But it’s mine and every mark makes it what it is to me.
