Hello,
I'm new to TrueNAS, and I'm currently building a dedicated machine to run it.
I'm to receive the real data disks I mean to use soon, and I'm fine-tuning the hardware and config util then using old disk lying around my shop.
But I'm having problems with setting up the boot drives. Depending on the drives I install it on, it boots fine or not at all, giving me the "This is a trueNAS data disk and cannot boot system". I've had this error with a 250Go SSD and then a 500Go HDD I ment to use as mirrored boot drives, but neither will boot the TrueNAS OS after install.
I've actually gone into the BIOS, set them all up the boot priority, and I've even opened the bot menu and selected them directly to boot on them. No dice. Same error every time.
If I do the install on a 16Go USB Stick, all works fine. I installed it on one of the 1To drives I ments to use as test data drive, and it worked fine too.
But it's like every other disc I try to use as boot won't work. They all show up fine in the TrueNAS install process, installation goes without a blimp, I get the 'installation sucessful, remove the install stick and reboot" prompt, but impossible to boot on them.
Also, in the UEFI BIOS, I can boot from all of them manually, rearrange them in boot priority and they show up in the SATA ports informations. But only one of the drives (the 1To drive) shows up in the quick startup thingy (in red in the image). I don't know why or if there's any link to the problem.
(not a screen of my setup, but I got the exact same bios)
Any idea how I could solve that ?
