Planning on expanding my server with a JBOD but unsure what I need or the fine details of how this works.

Post Body

Currently my system just has an HBA with 8 sata ports and my motherboard has 8 sata ports.

I'm planning on adding a JBOD. And I think I don't have space for another Pcie card (already have 10gb NIC and HBA).

How does a JBOD connect to my server? Would I need some sort of specific card?

Also, what kind of data speeds would the interface be cable of?

I assume 16 drives in a JBOD would still function as if they were all connected to the SATA on my motherboard with no performance hit?

Am I right in thinking for this I'll just need;

1) Jbod chassis. 2) some sort of PCI card to connect JBOD.

Any advice would be awesome. I'm fast running out of space and wanted to add another vdev to my pool.

Thanks.
