I am planning to enroll in my employer’s insurance for myself only. The premiums are $0 for the high deductible plan, and my company will put $500 into an HSA. I can’t pass up free money!
But I want to make sure I am not shooting myself in the foot… my OHI pays 80% for most procedures, but only AFTER I meet the deductible. I am a relatively healthy person so I don’t anticipate ever meeting my deductible. Let’s say I need an MRI. My OHI will not pay anything because I haven’t met my deductible, but if I had only Tricare it would be covered 100% after the $150 deductible or whatever small amount it is.
My question is, will Tricare just cover the MRI? (After I meet the Tricare deductible) and will what Tricare pays to the doc count toward the deductible for my OHI? Or will only my actual payments to providers count toward the deductible?
