Getting topical finasteride from a compound pharmacist. Which solution should I ask the pharmacist to use?

To those using topical finasteride, what do you use a solution? I believe I could use liposomes, minoxidil, or alcohol. Are there any other solutions that can be used for topical finasteride?
Would it be better or more cost effective to buy minoxidil from Costco and have my finasteride made with alcohol? What are your experiences?
