Stupid question Tuesday: when shampooing, how hard do you press on your scalp?

Looking for advice. Everything comes down to the details, and shampooing is no different. When shampooing, are you supposed to press your fingers into your scalp with a little pressure, or barely let your fingers graze your scalp? Does your technique differ based on which part of your scalp is thinning, or do you use the same shampooing technique all over your head? Or, to not irritate the scalp, do you ignore it completely and just focus on gently washing hair?
