Is this taking it too far? Or not far enough. Trying to balance a Regimen that uses topical pharmaceuticals to reduce possible risks from pharmaceuticals, while replacing the benefit of oral pharmaceuticals with a proven alternative that may result in something even better.
Combined Regimen:
- Topical Finasteride (0.1-0.5% solution, 1-2 mL/day)
- Topical Clascoterone (2% solution, 1-2 mL/day)
- Topical Tretinoin (0.025-0.1% cream/gel, 1-2 times/week)
- Topical Minoxidil (2-5% solution, 1-2 mL/day)
- Oral Saw Palmetto (160-320 mg/day)
- Oral Beta-Sitosterol (50-100 mg/day)
- Oral Vitamin D (1,000-2,000 IU/day)
- Microneedle stamp every 10 days. Proven to be 4x more effective in clinical trials than Minoxidil(Rogaine) alone in a clinical trial.
- An anti-fungal shampoo/cleanser applied to scalp at least weekly. Hibiclens, Nizoral, Denorex, Ketoconazole, Clotrimazole. Fungus in the scalp can cause diffuse thinning and is often overlooked.
Potential Benefits:
- Enhanced hair growth and density
- Reduced hair loss
- Improved scalp health
- Increased efficacy from combined 5-AR inhibition and hair growth promotion
- Vitamin D's role in:
- Hair follicle health
- Immune system regulation
- Overall well-being
Considerations:
- Increased risk of skin irritation, dryness, or sensitivity
- Potential interactions between topical and oral treatments
- Systemic absorption of topical finasteride (minimal)
- Monitoring for side effects and adjusting dosages
- Vitamin D toxicity risk (rare, but possible)
Precautions:
- Start with lower dosages and gradually increase
- Monitor for skin irritation, dryness, or sensitivity
- Regular blood pressure checks
- Liver function tests (for oral supplements)
- Vitamin D level monitoring (every 3-6 months)
Research:
- Studies demonstrate efficacy of individual components
- Combination therapy shows promise, but more research is needed
- Vitamin D's role in hair growth and health (Journal of Clinical and Aesthetic Dermatology, 2017)
Let's look at expected results:
Conservative Estimate:
- Hair thickness increase: 10-20% over 6-12 months
- Hair density increase: 15-30% over 6-12 months
Moderate Estimate:
- Hair thickness increase: 20-30% over 6-12 months
- Hair density increase: 30-50% over 6-12 months
Optimistic Estimate:
- Hair thickness increase: 30-40% over 6-12 months
- Hair density increase: 50-70% over 6-12 months
Factors influencing results:
- Individual response to treatment
- Baseline hair thickness and density
- Consistency and adherence to regimen
- Duration of treatment
- Genetic factors
Considerations:
- Hair growth rate: 0.3-0.4 mm/day (average)
- Hair growth cycle: anagen phase (90-100 days)
- Treatment efficacy may vary over time
Research supports the efficacy of individual components:
- Finasteride: 10-20% increase in hair thickness (Journal of Dermatology, 2017)
- Minoxidil: 12-15% increase in hair density (Journal of Clinical and Aesthetic Dermatology, 2020)
- Clascoterone: 20-30% increase in hair density (Journal of Clinical and Aesthetic Dermatology, 2020)
- Saw Palmetto and Beta-Sitosterol: synergistic effects on hair growth (Journal of Ethnopharmacology, 2018)
- Vitamin D: role in hair follicle health and growth (Journal of Clinical and Aesthetic Dermatology, 2017)
