I have some noticeable thinning on one side of my head and my dermatologist recommended I start using minoxidil. We're waiting on blood tests to determine if it is hormonal or stress-related and depending on the outcome I may also start taking oral spironolactone.
I've only been using min for a week, but I have questions about application. I have very long hair, so I put it in a claw to make it easier to part. Then I try to separate my hair into sections on the thinning side to expose the scalp. However, since I have the entire half of my scalp to cover I usually use the full dosage on that side. Is that OK, or should I be distributing the dosage more evenly across my entire scalp?
I have also been reading that the foam leaves less residue (and I've noticed that the liquid version has left my hair looking very "flat"), but I also find it easier to have a one-handed application so I can part with my other hand. Any long-haired users with advice?
I'm sorry if these are really obvious questions. I wanted to email my doctor about this, but our patient portal is migrating with no end point in sight. Thank you!
