Observations on tolerance.
Post Body

The purpose of this self post is mainly to put into words my thoughts on tolerance towards marijuana (well Δ9-THC and other cannibinoids), and how it is not only a physical tolerance, but also a mental tolerance.

I've been smoking trees for almost 4.5 years now, and have noticed a difference in the level I get from smoking during various stages of my smoking. The obvious reason is simply your body gains a physical tolerance to marijuana, though not for the usual reasons. Marijuana tolerance does not result from worn down receptors in the brain. In fact," tolerance to marijuana operates involves receptor 'down-regulation,' in which the body adjusts to chronic exposure to a drug by reducing the number of receptor sites available for binding." Source The brain is awesome.

Now that's the physical tolerance to marijuana. What I would like to now discuss is what I like to call the mental tolerance. Many people who smoke have said they did not get high the first time, or even the second time. I think they were just doing something wrong. I distinctly remember the first time I got high. I had the normal symptoms. Red eyes, difficult to focus, munchies, etc. What amazed me the most was all the different and amazing thoughts I had. Tons of ideas that I would normally reject for being far fetched, I actually took the time to think about and imagine. "Hey man, imagine if we could grow pineapples on mars...." Stuff like that.

However, many times since my early days, and more common recently, I've lost the feel of how it used to be. My mind doesn't run as wild (still runs pretty wild though), it of course take much more trees (depending on the quality) to get me stoned, and has just lost alot of it's uniqueness, for lack of a better word. I'm an everyday smoker with an mmj card. I'm guessing it runs parallel to the ideas of marginal value. Since I smoke regularly, the value of weed to me is lower than it would be if I smoked less often.

These are just my thoughts. Keep on toking.
